About Me

My name is Teresa, and some of my friends know me by my pseudonym, “Libby”. I currently live in the San Francisco bay area and have previously lived in Seattle, Sao Paulo and San Jose. I enjoy traveling, and I’m happy to have friends and colleagues all over the world.

I’ve believed in free markets for as long as I can remember. After reading PJ O’Rourke’s great book Parliament of Whores in 2004, I learned that the actions of US Republican politicians are not aligned with their statements about liberty and free markets. I stopped voting in elections after the Libertarian Party selected the author of the “Defense of Marriage Act,” Bob Barr, as candidate for US President. Party of principle, my ass! But politics corrupts even the best of people, and choosing among the lesser of three or more evils is no better than choosing the lesser of two evils. In March 2009 I joined Twitter and connected with people who share my philosophy and call themselves Voluntaryists. I vote with my work and trade, and I have great hope for the future.

I work in a highly regulated industry for a great company that takes responsibility for its products and pays me to fight bureaucracy.

I enjoy discussing ideas and actions, and I avoid arguments about labels and definitions.

People with different perspectives fascinate me. I love learning much more than I mind being wrong.
